Blues

Christmas in Australia is blue with Agapanthas, Plumbago, Yesterday, today and tomorrow and Hydrangeas. Every insect attracting flower, probably because there are so many insects.

Fern leaf Geranium

This beautiful plant has the tiniest flowers and blooms many times a year.
 The foliage is like a fern with fine fronds. It's early summer.

Asiatic lilies and Grevillea - white


The lily and the grevillea are blooming together on a hot sunny day. I like eclectic gardens with Australian plants and exotics. If a plants grows well without taking over, it has a spot in my garden.

Jacarandas first week december


Jacaranda season in Sydney coincides with examination time for schools and universities.
There is a local story that Ryde hospital used to give out a Jacaranda plant to every mother whose baby was born at the hospital and now Ryde is a mass of purple in the beginning of Summer.

Parrot impatiens

Friday 3 December 2010  This impatiens is a native of Africa. The flowers come directly from the stem and look like curled snails with parrot colours.
